Title: Azure Architect

Location: Remote with travel

Duration: FTE- CST/EST zone

Job Description:

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • 10 15 years of relevant experience in data architecture and cloud data platforms
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in computer science or a related field
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail

Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing Azure-based solutions.
  • Proven expertise in architecting complex workloads using core Azure services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and Azure SQL.
  • Strong understanding of Azure cloud architecture, including identity (AAD), networking, storage, compute, and governance.
  • Experience with IaC tools like ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform for automating Azure infrastructure deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines, release management, and automation workflows.
  • Familiarity with cloud security, compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR), and Azure Security Center.
  • Experience integrating Azure services with external data governance and catalog tools like Purview, Informatica, or Collibra.
  • Expertise in cost management, budgeting, and workload optimization in Azure.
  • Ability to define technical standards and ensure adherence across enterprise solutions.

Responsibilities:

Azure Architecture and Solution Design:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Guide teams on selecting appropriate Azure services based on use cases, cost, and performance.

Cloud Governance and Compliance:

  • Establish and enforce policies and guardrails using Azure Policy, Management Groups, and Blueprints.
  • Collaborate with compliance and security teams to ensure Azure solutions meet regulatory requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with data engineering, application, and infrastructure teams to define end-to-end solution architecture.
  • Serve as the technical authority on Azure, mentoring developers and engineers on best practices.

Performance Optimization and Monitoring:

  • Monitor application and infrastructure performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Optimize workloads and resources for cost, performance, and reliability.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code:

  • Automate provisioning and deployment using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Implement DevOps practices using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar toolsets.

Platform Reporting and Documentation:

  • Create architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on adoption, performance, and cost metrics.

Training and Enablement:

  • Conduct workshops and training sessions for internal teams on Azure technologies and architecture principles.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in Azure adoption.

Key Skills:

  • Azure Cloud Expertise: IaaS, PaaS, serverless computing, storage, security, and networking.
  • Automation and DevOps: CI/CD, IaC, Azure DevOps, and infrastructure automation.
