Job Summary
Seeking an experienced and detail oriented Release Manager to plan, coordinate, and oversee software releases across multiple environments and workstreams.
The ideal candidate combines strong release governance, hands on technical understanding, and excellent communication skills to ensure smooth, reliable deployments while maintaining alignment across teams and business stakeholders.
This role is central to driving maturity in release governance, ensuring compliance with change management processes, CAB approvals, and executive communications.
Release Planning and Coordination
Plan, manage, and coordinate software releases across Development, QA, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production environments.
Work closely with Delivery and Project Managers to align dependencies across multiple workstreams (e.g., PowerApps, Integration Services, Reporting & Analytics, Data Engineering).
Maintain a live dependency map and facilitate readiness reviews to identify and mitigate cross-team release risks.
Maintain a unified release calendar and proactively identify scheduling conflicts and dependencies.
Ensure environment readiness and enforce pre release quality gates before promotion to higher environments.
Track, document, and communicate release activities, milestones, and status updates.
Lead post release reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
Tooling and Automation
Oversee and optimise CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient, automated, and repeatable deployments.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to embed observability, monitoring, and alerting into release processes.
Support the transition from Azure DevOps to Jira, aligning workflows, reporting, and governance processes across teams.
Dependency and Risk Management
Work closely with Delivery and Project Managers to align dependencies across multiple workstreams (e.g., PowerApps, Integration Services, Reporting & Analytics, Data Engineering).
Maintain a live dependency map and facilitate readiness reviews to identify and mitigate cross team release risks.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the central coordination point for release communication from technical teams through to IT leadership.
Provide timely, structured updates during all phases of the release (e.g., readiness, go-live, post release validation).
Support executive level communications through concise release summaries, dashboards, and status reports.
Facilitate release bridge calls and post implementation reviews to ensure effective issue resolution and transparency.
Continuous Improvement
Track and report key release metrics (success rate, rollback frequency, duration, automation coverage).
Identify process inefficiencies and drive improvements in automation, documentation, and governance compliance.
Contribute to refining standardised run books, release templates, and Confluence documentation.
Required Skills
Continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to simplify and automate.
Hands on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and Jira.
Demonstrated experience in Scaled Agile (SAFe) or multi squad agile environments.
Working knowledge of SQL databases, deployment scripting, and data integrity validation.
Strong understanding of version control (e.g., Git) and branching strategies.
Proven experience supporting Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and release governance frameworks.
Effective communicator capable of translating technical detail into business language.
Collaborative team player who builds trust across engineering, QA, and operations.
