Job Description

  • The Client is looking for a highly skilled Functional Business Analyst with deep expertise in the insurance domain, specifically focused on Disability and Absence Benefits. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with FINEOS, ClaimVantage, claims data (eligibility & status), and ideally some exposure to APIs and system integrations. The candidate will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams to drive effective solutions in a complex insurance environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document functional requirements for Disability/Absence Benefits products.
  • Lead discussions around claims administration, eligibility verification, claims status tracking, and reporting processes.
  • Analyze and translate business needs into functional specifications, especially for systems like FINEOS and ClaimVantage.
  • Create detailed documentation such as Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Specifications (FSDs), process flows, and data mappings.
  • Collaborate with developers and QA teams to support system configuration, interface development, and user acceptance testing.
  • Understand and validate claims eligibility data, status feeds, and reporting outputs, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
  • Work closely with technical teams to consume or expose APIs related to claims data and external system integrations.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops and requirement sessions to align on business processes and system capabilities.
  • Support FINEOS and ClaimVantage system enhancements, configuration changes, and integration projects.
  • Conduct gap analysis, root cause analysis, and impact assessments for proposed changes.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and support sprint planning, story grooming, and backlog refinement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Experience as a Business Analyst in the insurance industry, with specific focus on Disability and Absence Benefits.
  • Working knowledge of Claims Eligibility Data, Claims Status Feeds, and reporting outputs.
  • Working experience with FINEOS (Claims, Billing, or Policy modules).
  • Experience with ClaimVantage or other claims administration platforms is a strong plus.
  • Exposure to or experience working with APIs and data integrations.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills with an ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Familiarity with system configuration, UAT coordination, and test case development.
  • Ability to work across teams and drive consensus on business requirements.
