Job Details

Responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.

  • Analyze business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and implement solutions.

  • Debug and troubleshoot application issues, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Optimize and modernize legacy systems to improve performance and reliability.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system flow diagrams, and program specifications.

  • Collaborate with QA teams to conduct unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.

  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

  • Support production systems, including incident management and root cause analysis.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with distributed systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL development on IBM mainframe systems.

  • Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.

  • Strong understanding of mainframe batch processing and online transaction processing.

  • Experience with unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, ERDs, and system documentation.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Education

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
