Lower Cost Repair Resource - Electrical/Electronics Hardware Specialist

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Electrical/Electronics Hardware Specialist with strong automotive repair experience to support Ford's service objectives. This role will act as a liaison between PD Engineering and FCSD PS&L, SEO & TSO for North American-built products, focusing on identifying cost-effective repair solutions and improving service strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review warranty claims and returned parts to identify failure modes and validate repair processes.
  • Analyze current workshop manual procedures, labor operations, available parts, and dealer communications (TSBs, SSMs).
  • Compare existing procedures with field repairs and generate ideas for directed diagnostics and lower-cost repair solutions.
  • Coordinate and/or perform service trials and vehicle testing with engineering, quality, and FCSD teams.
  • Assist Quarterback teams in quantifying savings opportunities and provide weekly reports.
  • Approve WERS alerts, concerns, and notices daily to identify impacts on service strategies, IDS, parts catalog, WSM, PCED, wiring diagrams, and related documentation.
  • Document diagnostic and repair procedures with clear technical writing.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • 2+ years experience in an automotive dealership or service facility.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle repair processes and hands-on diagnostic/repair experience.
  • Efficiency mindset with excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Good technical writing skills for documenting procedures.
  • Basic understanding of automotive network communication protocols.
  • Ability to work across multiple project teams and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; self-motivated and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Ford systems and processes (WERS, IDS, ESST, etc.).
  • Familiarity with service strategy development and cost-reduction initiatives.
