Terms of Employment:
W2 Contract, 12 Months (Likely Extension)
This position is preferably hybrid with candidates comfortable working onsite in Warrenville, IL or Kennett Square, PA three days per week. With that said, candidates can work remotely, but must reside a commutable distance to Warrenville, IL or Kennett Square, PA.
Candidates must be willing to travel to Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Domestic travel would be roughly once per month. Though not required, there may be opportunity to travel to Southeast Asia.
Overview & Responsibilities:
A leading energy company is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to support quality oversight of high and medium voltage equipment for utility-scale infrastructure projects. This role will focus on both supplier-side quality assurance and the enhancement of the internal QA program.
The successful candidate will have experience working with high voltage (500 200kV) and medium voltage (200 34.5kV) transmission equipment and a strong understanding of quality standards, inspections, and documentation. This individual will also contribute to the refresh and improvement of an internal QA management model, with a specific focus on the procurement of transformers, breakers, and related components. Responsibilities include:
Oversee and inspect the quality of high and medium voltage equipment from manufacturers.
Update and enhance the internal QA program to reflect current project and operational needs.
Conduct audits, inspections, and QA assessments at domestic and international locations.
Interpret and review technical drawings, electrical schematics, and specifications.
Ensure QA practices align with engineering standards, procurement requirements, and regulatory compliance.
Monitor and report on supplier performance and track resolution of quality issues.
Collaborate with engineering, project management, and supply chain teams to support end-to-end QA processes.
Required Skills & Experience:
Experience performing QA for high voltage (500 200kV) and medium voltage (200 34.5kV) electrical equipment.
Familiarity with transformers, breakers, and other transmission and substation components.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
Strong background in equipment inspections and supplier quality oversight.
Ability and willingness to travel to Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Southeast Asia as needed.
Strong attention to detail and excellent communication/documentation skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Educational background or hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Experience developing or managing QA programs for large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of utility procurement processes and integration of QA standards with suppliers.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management frameworks.
Previous work in a commercial energy project environment with a focus on risk mitigation and compliance.
