Raytheon is looking for an Senior Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense and Sensors (MDS) department. The MDS department provides subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow down, modeling and simulation, systems analysis, integration, test and evaluation of world-class Missile Defense & Sensors to be achieved through our people, processes, technology and performance.

This position is located onsite in Woburn, MA.

What You will Do:

The Senior Systems Engineer contributes through all phases of the product development lifecycle (i.e. systems and software requirements, system architecture and design, software integration and test, simulation and test, integration and test, verification and sell-off), within an interdisciplinary process that ensures the customer and warfighters' needs are satisfied through every stage. This commitment to excellence can includes opportunities for travel, and flexible hours/shifts to ensure programmatic milestones are met.

Some specific responsibilities:
  • Analyzing radar system performance data with respect to requirements
  • Identifying performance deficiencies and proposing solutions
  • Defining and prototyping new algorithms to enhance system performance
  • Presenting plans, designs and system performance to peers, internal leadership and external customers
  • Providing subject matter expertise to agile software development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements
  • Data analysis using any combination of scripting tools, Python, Matlab, and COTS products

Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in operation, test, and troubleshooting of software.
  • Experience across the product development life cycle
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering support for Software, Hardware, and Firmware
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Active US security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools
  • Proven ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Experience working with Matlab, C/C++, Perl or DOORS
  • Strong analytic, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Experience with system level requirements development, documentation and maintenance and/or requirements development and design of system level software architecture
  • Experience with radar system concepts; detection, track and signal processing algorithms and their behaviors and performance
  • Experience and interest in Information Assurance/Cyber Engineering requirements, determination, development and implementation
  • Experience with Agile development, including project estimating, reporting, and backlog management.
  • Previous military service
  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions to complex user needs
  • Analytic, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or greater
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or related discipline

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
