Lead Engineer - Transmission Line

Location: Tampa, FL and Orlando, FL

Type: Full-Time

Pay: $120K-$140K (depending on experience)

We're looking for a Lead Engineer to drive high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead transmission line projects. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, project oversight, and team mentorship. You'll be responsible for ensuring quality deliverables, meeting client deadlines, and keeping the team engaged and aligned.


What You'll Do:


  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, designers, and drafters


  • Set clear expectations and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture


  • Oversee the design process including line routing, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, clearance checks, and plan/profile development


  • Coordinate with survey teams, permitting bodies, subcontractors, and vendors


  • Review and approve engineering submittals


  • Support infrastructure planning around access roads and land use (note: not responsible for direct civil design)


  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation


  • Serve as a technical resource and coach for junior team members


  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships


  • Assist with project estimating and proposal development



What We're Looking For:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering


  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (or can Reciprocate within 3 months)


  • 10+ years of transmission line design experience in the utility industry


  • Expert-level PLS-CADD


  • Strong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ASCE, ACI standards


  • Experience working across disciplines including substation, environmental, real estate, and construction


  • Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills


  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment


  • Excellent communication skills-both technical and client-facing


  • Must pass motor vehicle check per company policy
