Lead Engineer - Transmission Line
Location: Tampa, FL and Orlando, FL
Type: Full-Time
Pay: $120K-$140K (depending on experience)
We're looking for a Lead Engineer to drive high-voltage (HV) and extra high-voltage (EHV) overhead transmission line projects. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, project oversight, and team mentorship. You'll be responsible for ensuring quality deliverables, meeting client deadlines, and keeping the team engaged and aligned.

What You'll Do:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, designers, and drafters
- Set clear expectations and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture
- Oversee the design process including line routing, PLS-CADD modeling, structure and foundation design, clearance checks, and plan/profile development
- Coordinate with survey teams, permitting bodies, subcontractors, and vendors
- Review and approve engineering submittals
- Support infrastructure planning around access roads and land use (note: not responsible for direct civil design)
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Serve as a technical resource and coach for junior team members
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Assist with project estimating and proposal development
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or can Reciprocate within 3 months)
- 10+ years of transmission line design experience in the utility industry
- Expert-level PLS-CADD
- Strong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, ASCE, ACI standards
- Experience working across disciplines including substation, environmental, real estate, and construction
- Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills-both technical and client-facing
- Must pass motor vehicle check per company policy
