Job Details
MTSI is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to provide technical and programmatic support for multiple ongoing and new ACAT III avionics and communications/navigation acquisition and modernization programs. The candidate will work directly with branch leadership and program managers, engineers, and logisticians to link Air Force Global Strike Command requirements to fielding of new, war-winning capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Provide systems engineering and program management support
Provide daily, direct technical and programmatic guidance and recommendations to
avionics/communications program managers in support of multiple ongoing and
new ACAT III acquisition/modernization programs
Interface daily with Branch leadership, program managers, engineers, logisticians, and
members of the overall weapon system enterprise, including requirements managers
at Air Force Global Strike Command, to communicate system design progress, risks,
and solutions
Advise for and participate in technical and programmatic reviews for assigned
programs
Prepare and assess technical and programmatic products and collaborate with
stakeholders to support associated reviews
Participate in technical/engineering and program meetings, support analysis, make
recommendations, and track actions to closure
Develop technical and programmatic briefings and provide primary briefing support
as needed
Implement and execute systems engineering across the program life cycle
Assist with review of contractor deliverables, schedules, and reports
Support cost estimation, technical risk management, and resource planning for
systems engineering activities
Oversee requirements traceability and validation, ensuring designs meet
specifications and mission objectives
Ensure all systems align with DoD standards, military specifications, risk management
guidelines, and cybersecurity requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related
technical field required, and 15-18 years' experience deriving DoD system
requirements from customer documents and/or developing statements of work and
generating system requirements documentation; strong aircraft avionics technical or
programmatic background
Experience in analyzing, decomposing, and documenting system requirements and
assessing system design and readiness for test and production
Experience briefing and interfacing with technical and program managers, senior
executives, and senior military personnel
Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and physical science/technical
problem solving skills
Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams under tight timelines, delivering
mission-critical solutions
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related
technical field required, and 10-15 years' relevant experience
Experience with GPS receivers, integration, and interface units and cryptographic
systems
Experience with communications, navigation, guidance, and control systems and
associated flight software
Experience with communications/navigation analysis and simulation/programming
tools
Knowledge of MIDS/JTRS/Link 16 requirements and implementation
Knowledge of critical signals analysis, in support of Air Force Manual 91-118 and 91-
119 nuclear design certification
Experience with hardware/software development, including RF, and integration with
avionics and air vehicle systems
Proficiency in preparation for and execution of system requirement and design reviews
Clearance Requirements:
Possess an active Top Secret security clearance, based upon a Single Scope
Background (SSBI/SBPR).
Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access
Programs (SAP) access
Location/Travel:
Work location is customer site at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH
CONUS travel required up to 20%
