Job Description:
Apex has an immediate opening available for a Data Scientist Advisor with one of our GovCon clients supporting a CMS program. As a Data Scientist Advisor you will join a team supporting the MSPSC contract. The purpose of this special project for the MSPSC contract is to use machine learning models to analyze Medicare claims data and to improve model(s) for identifying incident-related claims with greater accuracy than the current approach. Responsibilities:
- Perform scientific work associated with the analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large data sets.
- Use large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization.
- Use models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.
- Mine and analyze data using a variety of data tools.
- Build and implement models using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations.
- Develop processes and machine learning-based tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
- Drive business results with data-based insights.
- Develop data science / Machine Learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to complex business challenges.
- Utilize advanced data science tools and skills to interpret, connect, predict, and make discoveries in data.
- Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.
- Manage and analyze large and/or complex datasets.
- Provide support in capturing and defining any requirements for the deliverables/ solutions for the projects under this contract.
- Provide expertise and implementation support for projects in data science, predictive analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Qualifications:
- Masters of Science in Data Science
- 8+ years of related experience
- Proven experience developing machine learning models and engineering features using Python, Spark, and other packages in Amazon SageMaker AI
- Able to create complex queries in SQL for testing and data analysis
- Experience developing ML pipelines and with ML Operations
- Experience with Model Tuning and Governance
- Experience with the following tools: MLFlow, GitHub, Docker
- Data Science experience with healthcare and/or claims analysis
- Statistics background and knowledge of queuing theory
- Expected to formulate questions that will help the business and then proceed in solving them
- Must be able to work with engineering teams to source the right data, evaluate system performance
- Experience with one or more: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Predictive Analytics
- Problem-solving attitude
- High level of self-motivation and initiative
- Must be able to effectively develop written artifacts and communicate ML/AI concepts to stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
