Job Description
At Kratos, we encourage an entrepreneurial spirit balanced with discipline. We work hard, and take care of our customers, employees, and families. Recognized as thought leaders in our industry, we are motivated by creating and delivering innovative solutions to our nation and global customers. The Design Drafter provides expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, technical drawing standards, and visualization techniques to produce accurate, detailed, and clear technical drawings and models supporting the design, fabrication, assembly, construction, and documentation of project components and systems.
The Systems Engineer role leverages expertise in Systems Engineering principles to define, analyze, and manage the complexities of systems, ensuring solutions satisfy cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
Conducts requirements analysis to elicit, document, and manage the functional and non-functional requirements of systems
Researches and defines integration strategies for design
Develops and maintains the system architecture, providing a blueprint for the components and their interactions
Applies system modeling techniques to visualize and analyze the structure and behavior of the simulation
Performs functional analysis to decompose high-level requirements into detailed functions and allocate them to system elements
Identifies and assesses potential risks associated with development, and integration, and proposes mitigation strategies.
Defines the system and its integration, including interfaces with control systems models or data
Participates in test planning, defining the strategy and scope for verifying and validating the integrated simulation system against requirements
Creates and communicates system architectures, integration plans, and interface definitions for various designs and related systems
Identifies integration requirements, data exchange needs, and works with discipline engineers to define compatible solutions
Serves as a technical lead to ensure coordination of systems and may provide guidance to other technical team members
Liaison with process engineers, discipline engineers, and software developers to resolve questions with interpretation or execution of the design throughout its lifecycle
Monitors the development and integration progress against the system architecture to identify inconsistencies and coordinates with the team to create effective solutions
Participates in the identification of root causes of system-level issues and develops effective corrective actions
Interacts with leadership, verbally, and through presentations, on the system's architecture, integration, and progress
Experience and Skills
Specify any minimum required skill sets for this position:
Understands relevant industry standards and best practices in relation to system design, integration, and verification
Interprets and defines system architectures, interface control documents, requirements specifications, and system models
Proficiency with requirements analysis principles, methodologies, and management tools
Experienced with system architecture development, documentation, and model-based systems engineering / Model Based Engineering or Design (MBSE/MBD)
Experienced with risk management processes
Understands control systems principles.
Strong computer skills and experience with standard office software.
BS degree in Engineering (e.g., Systems, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) or a relevant technical field (significant work experience in systems engineering may be substituted for education).
Minimum 7 years of experience in a combination of systems engineering and a related technical domain (e.g., simulation, process control, or the energy industry).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with naval or industrial power plants
Proficiency with Jama requirements management software
Experience with any combination of: Building Information Models (BIM), AutoDesk Revit, Deltek CostPoint, SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM, TipQA
Knowledge and/or experience with relevant quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for data analysis or automation
Experience in test planning and execution for complex systems
