Job Details

As an Operations Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality products within a specified operation. You will be responsible for overseeing quality systems, defining incoming quality requirements, managing process controls, and driving inspection and audit activities. This position demands active engagement on the production floor, coaching team members, and partnering with multiple departments to maintain and improve quality standards. Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the quality systems team, you will lead root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives that align with operational goals and safety policies.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure safe production of products that meet or exceed established quality standards
  • Coach and support team members following supervisory and human performance excellence principles
  • Develop, audit, and enforce incoming quality contracts and process management standards
  • Track, analyze, and report on key quality metrics to maintain system compliance
  • Lead development and application of visual process management tools
  • Represent your area in daily quality review meetings and coordinate quality improvement activities
  • Investigate internal and external quality issues; drive corrective and preventive actions
  • Develop and maintain quality-related standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide quality training to team members and support continuous development
  • Promote the use of human performance tools to enhance quality outcomes
  • Manage inspection processes ensuring outgoing product meets quality criteria
  • Control and communicate process changes affecting quality and safety
  • Participate in internal audits and contribute to supply chain quality requirements and shipping compliance

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in manufacturing processes and product/process failure analysis
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with operational knowledge of process, equipment capability, and quality systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with statistical tools such as Minitab, and systems like AS400 and AARTs preferred
  • Familiarity with aluminum alloys, casting, rolling, finishing technologies, and quality standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF
