DPP is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for an opportunity in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Work arrangement:
  • Fully onsite in Hagerstown, MD
  • W2 position; 12 months
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
Position summary:
  • Do you enjoy collaborating with others to create innovative products and services? In this role, you will work in multidisciplinary teams to bring concept of operations to fruition and further our customers' mission objectives.
  • As a Manufacturing Engineer III for our Hagerstown, MD client, you will play a critical role in special mission aircraft efforts and help lead the way in developing next-generation Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms.
  • You will research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and improve cutting-edge products and services that range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated aircraft.
  • Specifically, you will be instrumental in the development and enhancement of special mission aircraft, ensuring they meet the unique needs and stringent requirements of our clients.
  • Your responsibilities will include consulting with program management, design engineers, quality assurance, and production teams to develop the most efficient and cost-effective means of producing products at the highest quality possible.
  • You will review engineering designs for producibility and oversee all aspects of design conception through implementation. This includes the development of tooling and fixtures, work instructions, and production processes and procedures.
  • Additionally, you will apply manufacturing technologies and industry best practices during the design and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring that our special mission aircraft are built to the highest standards and performance criteria.

About the team:
  • The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide.
  • The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains: air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB)
  • Experience with CATIA CAD software to create detailed tool designs and drawings
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production
  • Experience with CNC programming and machining
  • Experience with aircraft modification
  • Experience interacting with shop floor personnel from project conception through implementation
  • Familiarity working with vendors on outside tooling fabrication
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
  • Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.
  • Capability working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience with work instruction/traveler development
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Security Clearance
Education/equivalency:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Work environment:
  • Physical/Mental/Emotional: Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps. Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity. Rarely lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Working Conditions: Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.) Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials. Rarely exposed to loud noises.
