Job Title: Nuclear Supply Chain Buyer
Location: Chattanooga, TN

Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $85,000 - $95,000 annually

System One is seeking a detail-driven and compliance focused Senior Buyer for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Chattanooga, TN. This role will support our client's nuclear engineering and manufacturing business. The ideal candidate will have experience procuring materials and services in a highly regulated environment with a strong understanding of nuclear NQA-1 standards. In this role, you will be responsible for managing procurement processes and supplier relationships to ensure the timely acquisition of materials necessary for our operations. Your expertise will play a critical role in ensuring that all procured items meet strict nuclear quality and traceability requirements, supporting production needs while maintaining full compliance for our customers.

Nuclear Supply Chain Buyer Responsibilities
  • Procure raw materials, precision components, tooling, and serves in accordance with NQA-1 and other high specification energy industry requirements.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials.
  • Ensure procurement documentation complies with applicable industry standards and client-specific requirements, including proper documentation (e.g., CMTRs, traceability records, approved vendor status).
  • Maintain Approved Supplier Lists (ASLs) and coordinate vendor audits in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team.
  • Analyze inventory levels and forecast demand to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production and quality teams to ensure a seamless material and documentation flow.
  • Review procurement requirements with customer specifications to ensure purchased items meet contractual and technical requirements.
  • Issue and track Purchase Orders to maintain documentation, timely delivery and full traceability.
  • Support corrective actions related to procurement and supplier issues, including nonconformance documentation and resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and organized procurement records in accordance with industry requirements and internal procedures.
  • Monitor industry trends and supply chain risks, particularly those impacting critical materials or compliance.

Nuclear Supply Chain Buyer Requirements
  • A minimum of five years' experience as a buyer in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably nuclear, defense or aerospace.
  • Working knowledge of NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B. and related quality assurance programs is a plus.
  • Experience with traceability, commercial grade dedication and nuclear specific procurement practices.
  • Strong communication and vendor management practices.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Global Systems is preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build strong supplier relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for data-driven decision making.
