Senior Full Stack Developer

A fast-paced, data-driven fintech company in Fairfax, VA, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join their hybrid team. Their tech stack includes Python, Ruby on Rails, SQL, Snowflake, AWS, and React, with a strong emphasis on large-scale data processing and direct collaboration with end users.

This innovative team works closely with traders to prototype and deliver data-driven applications, in Python / Ruby on Rails, that support real-time decision-making. The role is highly autonomous and ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and is comfortable leading projects end-to-end. The company values engineers who can communicate effectively with stakeholders and present insights clearly.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in full-stack Python software development and/or Ruby on Rails development
• Experience with large-scale data (terabytes), including analysis and architecture (Pandas, Polars, SQL/RDS, Snowflake, S3)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with clients (traders)
• Comfortable with R&D, prototyping, and ambiguity in tasks

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with Ruby on Rails (or willingness to learn)
• Familiarity with AWS and distributed computing
• Exposure to React or frontend data visualization
