We are searching for the best talent for our MedTech Surgery, Sr Software Engineer- Real-Time Software position, based out of Santa Clara, CA.

As Sr. Software Engineer you will contribute to the development and testing of various hardware interfaces and low-level communications used in a surgical robotic platform. You will write software in real-time environments (RTOS) as well as embedded Linux.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop robust, safety-critical C++ code in multi-threaded, real-time environments where precision and reliability are paramount.
  • Design software architectures for complex subsystems, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and seamless integration with robotic hardware.
  • Conduct thorough risk analysis and implement sophisticated mitigation strategies in software designs.
  • Partner closely with Electrical, Embedded, and Control Systems engineers to solve complex technical challenges and optimize system performance.
  • Represent your team in cross-functional discussions, driving technical decisions, and advocating for engineering excellence across the organization.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Masters or Advanced degree preferred.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 5+ years of work experience with a bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of experience with master's degree, in writing C++ production software
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-core and multi-threading architectures for high-performance applications.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience developing time-critical applications on RTOS platforms (QNX, VxWorks, or Real-Time Linux).
  • Advanced C++ (C++11 or higher) proficiency in building high-performance, multi-threaded applications in safety-critical environments.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols like EtherCAT, CAN/CANOpen or RTI/DDS.
  • Experience with MPSoC software development, embedded Linux systems (Yocto)
  • Comfortable debugging complex hardware-software interactions.
  • Background in medical device software development with knowledge of IEC 62304 compliance and regulatory requirements.

Other:
  • This role will be based out of Santa Clara, CA and may require up to 5% travel (domestic and international)
  • The anticipated base pay range is $121,000 to $194,350
