Position: Software Engineering Lead
Location: Redondo Beach, CA
About the Role
We are seeking a Software Engineering Lead to support the development and delivery of advanced Navigation Payload systems within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. This role involves leading a team of engineers, driving software execution, and collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality embedded software solutions for space-based systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, ensuring alignment with project goals and delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems and hardware engineering to define and implement software solutions.
- Drive software development best practices including configuration management, unit testing, and code quality improvements.
- Own and document the technical baseline and software architecture.
- Design, develop, test, and debug embedded software in C/C++ for real-time systems.
- Conduct system-level analysis and contribute to multidisciplinary research and development.
- Ensure compliance with software standards and system requirements.
- Execute and oversee rigorous testing to validate software functionality, performance, and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field with 12+ years of experience, OR Master's degree with 10+ years, OR Ph.D. with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience leading software engineering teams and managing software delivery schedules.
- Strong programming skills in systems.
- Hands-on experience with VxWorks and Wind River Workbench.
- Demonstrated expertise in configuration management and process improvement.
- Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional engineering environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira, BitBucket, etc.
- Familiarity with Pointing, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) systems and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies.
- Full software development lifecycle experience including architecture, requirements, development, integration, and testing.
- Comfortable working in lab environments and with resource-constrained systems.
