Job Title: SQL Database Administrator (Local to Houston, TX) Only W2 Candidate

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA (2016/2019/2022 preferred).

  • Strong expertise in:

    • T-SQL development

    • Indexing strategies and statistics

    • Query optimization & execution plans

    • SQL Server performance tuning tools (Profiler, XE, DMVs, Query Store)

  • Experience with backup/restore, high availability, and disaster recovery.

  • Solid understanding of server-level components such as tempdb, memory grants, I/O performance, and resource contention.

  • Experience collaborating with developers and application teams on performance improvements.

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  • Manage, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases across development, staging, and production environments.

  • Perform SQL performance tuning, including indexing strategies, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and server configuration review.

  • Diagnose and resolve database performance issues, slow-running queries, blocking/deadlocking, and resource bottlenecks.

  • Implement and monitor backup/restore strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, log shipping, clustering).
