Overview

The Radiation Analysis/Shielding group at Electric Boat is known within the Naval Nuclear Program for its radiation analysis expertise, its hands-on knowledge of shielded structures, related manufacturing methods and the ability to resolve difficult problems with applied, practical solutions. Radiation shielding engineers provide analysis for future designs, consulting services and support to construction activities at Electric Boat facilities, Newport News Shipbuilding (Huntington Ingalls Industries), land based prototypes, and for Commissioned Submarines, Moored Training ships and their designated support facilities. Working in a team environment, engineers develop innovative solutions to solve problems. Engineers interface with designers, shipyard personnel, the Naval Nuclear Laboratories and our Navy customer. Opportunities exist for engineers with a degree in nuclear engineering, with analytical and computational skills in radiation transport and related shielding analysis. Above average written and verbal communication skills are required, prior naval nuclear experience a plus.
