Technical Writer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Technical Writer with specialized experience in developing and editing documents that support federal and state regulatory compliance, particularly within the transportation safety sector.

Job Description:

The individual will work closely with the Sr. Manager and staff to draft, format, and consolidate safety-related documents while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and organizational standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drafting, editing, and formatting safety documentation in alignment with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and USDOT requirements, including Public Transportation Agency Safety Plans (PTASPs). Combining and harmonizing multiple documents into a unified, consistent format. Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with version control and change tracking protocols.
• Supporting the development of safety audit documents, inspection checklists, and forms. Collaborating with managers and staff to handle multiple concurrent safety projects and deliverables.
• Maintaining a high level of document integrity, regulatory compliance, and professional formatting standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Technical Writer with strong knowledge of federal and state regulatory documentation requirements.
• Demonstrated expertise senior managers and staff across departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in transportation safety, regulatory compliance, or related fields.
• Experience developing safety audit tools, inspection forms, and compliance checklists. Familiarity with safety management systems (SMS) principles.
