Role: Power BI Report Server Administrator Hybrid

Location: East Main Street, VA.

Job type: Long Term (Contract).

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Power BI Report Server Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize a critical Power BI Report Server infrastructure. This role is responsible for system performance, security vulnerability mitigation, report lifecycle management, and strategic improvement of enterprise BI deployments.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in server migrations, Power BI server administration, SQL Server technologies, and cross-functional collaboration. Prior experience in Tax environments and SDLC is strongly preferred.

This is a hybrid role requiring 2 days onsite per week. However, remote work may be considered for outstanding candidates who meet all technical and experience requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for vulnerability-related findings and coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Review and respond to security reports related to BI infrastructure.
  • Plan and execute Power BI Report Server migrations and upgrades.
  • Monitor and optimize server performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Manage user access, roles, and security within the Power BI Report Server environment.
  • Troubleshoot data refresh failures, access issues, and report errors.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain and enhance SSRS/SSAS/SSIS configurations within SQL Server.
  • Provide training and knowledge transfer on Power BI Report Server best practices.
  • Support the SDLC process, especially in tax or compliance-based systems.
  • Assist with low-code application development and web services integration as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

Skill

Hands-on experience with Power BI Report Server

Proven experience in server migrations (Windows Server, SQL Server, Power BI)

Advanced expertise in SQL Server (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS)

Experience monitoring and tuning Power BI Report Server performance

Strong troubleshooting skills for data refresh and access issues

Experience managing user roles, permissions, and security

Experience managing upgrades, patches, and system migrations

Familiarity with vulnerability remediation processes in BI environments

Ability to provide training and documentation to teams

Experience with low-code platforms and web services

Prior experience in Tax-related environments and SDLC
