A globally leading technology company is looking for a Materials Testing Technician to assist in the operation of lab equipment, mechanical testing, and failure analysis of materials. The work will focus on testing and analyzing various brittle materials to generate data and quantify material performance. This position supports a team of materials engineers in improving the reliability and performance of our products throughout the company.
Typical tasks include executing mechanical tests, running lab equipment, performing failure analysis on materials, and summarizing results. Comprehensive training and detailed instructions will be provided for all specific tasks and measurements required.

Job Responsibilities:
- Failure analysis of brittle materials.
- Imaging and measuring of test samples.
- Operation of lab equipment.
- SEM imaging and composition characterization.
- Mechanical testing using an Instron or similar test apparatus.
Candidate Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of experience.
- Lab management and workflow development.
- Preferred experience with Instron for materials testing.
- Experience with any materials characterization techniques.
- Experience with CAD or design software, optical microscopy and laboratory characterization.
- SEM/SEM-EDS experience.
- Hands-on lab fabrication experience.
- Familiarity with basic materials science concepts.
- Comfort with multiple assignments/tasks.
- Ability to record and report data clearly to many engineers.
- Excellent record keeping.
Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months (with a possibility to extend up to 18 months)
Work Location: Santa Clara, CA (100% on site)
Pay Range: $ 30.00 - $ 45.00 (DOE)
