Description

The Electrification, Fuel Cell, ADAS, and Emerging Technology Architect is the technical leader of a centralized team responsible for creating the processes and requirements to ensure the end-to-end security of GM's automotive and non-automotive products. Responsible for specifying requirements, execution and evaluation of designs, analysis, development, testing and control of major engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. Exercises technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel. Work involves cross-functional collaboration, supplier engagement, and active participation in industry standards organization (ISO, SAE,...) and associated workgroups.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide technical leadership across a diverse and cross-functional group of security engineers to develop strategies and processes for end-to-end security of EV/Electrification architecture, charging infrastructure, fuel cell, ADAS, and emerging technology projects
  • Lead the development and implementation of end-to-end security of EV and Electrification architecture including charging infrastructure and accessories, in-vehicle data network, flash programming, diagnostic services, intrusion detection, wireless communication, and back-office interface
  • Lead the development and implementation of end-to-end security of battery commercialization and Fuel Cell projects (e.g. - HydroTec, GM Energy, eCrate, and more) including in-vehicle and external data network, V2G, V2H, flash programming, diagnostic services, intrusion detection, wireless communication, and back-office interface
  • Lead the development and implementation of end-to-end security of ADAS and emerging technology projects including data network, flash programming, diagnostic services, intrusion detection, wireless communication, and back-office interface
  • Conduct risk assessment (TARA) to make informed decisions on necessary security controls
  • Develop/Lead IT related projects to ensure timely implementation.
  • Single point technical contact for vehicle and non-vehicle cybersecurity issues.
  • Assist leadership to define the strategic and tactical goals
  • Steer/propose security related Advanced Technology Work (ATW) necessary to close technology gaps
  • Develop and maintain corporate vision for security-critical embedded controls
  • Lead interface with SDV Architecture design team
  • Lead cybersecurity tests, evaluations, studies and experiments
  • Conduct technical and management briefings
  • Review and approve requirements and processes. Collaborate with requirements authors as needed to ensure high quality, executable system requirements
  • Review NDAs, MSAs, and make recommendations
  • Participate in security-related workgroups and outside standards organizations such as ISO, SAE and CharIN

Additional Description

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree program
  • 5+ years of experience with automotive security architecture design
  • Working experience in embedded security, Electrification, and ADAS architecture
  • Working experience with Plug and Charge, charging infrastructure, and BMS (Battery Management System)
  • Working experience with symmetric and public cryptography
  • Working experience with PKI (public key infrastructure)
  • Working knowledge of automotive microcontroller and SoC architectures
  • Working knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Practice with risk assessment, threat modeling, and security operations
  • Comprehension of industry standard communication protocols, diagnostic infrastructure, and corporate common diagnostic parameter management processes.
  • Ability to make decisions and recommendations while taking into account appropriate tradeoffs between conflicting objectives

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
