Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled SMTP Proofpoint Engineer with Cloudmark experience to support a critical Cyber Security initiative within the Email Security Team. This role will focus on routing, messaging, and SMTP configuration in a Proofpoint Hybrid environment (Cloud and on-prem Sentrions), supporting projects related to third-party email routing, application relay integration, and inbound/outbound mail flow.

Candidates need to have:

• 4+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture, with a strong focus on messaging and email security.
• 4+ years working in a large enterprise messaging environment with deep expertise in:
• SMTP configuration/connectivity
• Mail flow analysis and routing
• DNS, MX records, SPF, DKIM
• Hands-on experience with Proofpoint Hybrid POD and Sentrions.
• Proven experience working on Cloudmark and third-party email relay channels.
• Familiarity with SER (Secure Email Relay) configurations.

Preferred:

• 2+ years of experience with email security platforms such as Proofpoint, M365 Defender, FireEye, DLP.
• Experience with monitoring and ticketing tools such as Splunk, Jira, Nagios, and ServiceNow.
• Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Experience in regulatory/compliance-heavy industries such as financial services.
• Familiarity with enterprise security policies, risk, and change management frameworks.
• Exposure to Agile methodology and working within product model frameworks is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support ongoing SMTP/Proofpoint Engineering projects, including hosted relay channels and third-party application integrations.
• Work with Proofpoint POD and Sentrion appliances within a hybrid (cloud/on-prem) architecture.
• Lead and support a large-scale project to route outbound emails from over 900 third-party SaaS vendors (e.g., ServiceNow) through Wells Fargo s Proofpoint environment.
• Create and manage policies and rules for inbound and outbound mail, including handling quarantined emails and regulated archiving requirements.
• Coordinate with application owners and third-party vendors to ensure secure and reliable email routing through Proofpoint infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with Cyber Security and Email Security teams to ensure secure and compliant messaging practices.
• Conduct log analysis and message tracing using tools like Splunk and Proofpoint.
• Utilize ServiceNow for change management, incident resolution, and service requests.
