Responsibilities:
- Review bid specifications and develop exception documentation.
- Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare all required installation submittals and coordinate hand-off to operations.
- Act as a technical resource for both the internal team and customers.
- Participate in sales-to-operations turnover meetings to evaluate the accuracy of sales estimates and job layouts.
- Conduct initial job site walkthroughs with contractors and building management.
- Independently design building automation systems for standard and critical environment facilities.
- Create custom design solutions to meet specific customer requirements when necessary.
- Design BAS systems for large or complex buildings, including:
- Mechanical system layouts
- Electrical drawings
- Bill of materials Sequence of operations
- Valve, damper, and AFMS schedules
- DDC panel layouts
- Design BAS network architecture to support operator workstations, DDC field panels, field controllers, and third-party integration devices.
- Analyze plans, construction specifications, and codes to determine project requirements and risks.
- Provide start-up and checkout documentation for commissioning and validation.
- Prepare engineering re-estimates and coordinate with sales and management to ensure alignment with job scope.
- Draft specifications and drawings for special components and panels sourced from external suppliers.
- Select appropriate control products to meet project requirements.
- Prepare RFIs for pre-installation extras or change orders for submission to customers or contractors.
Maintain and update hardware and engineering standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude; technical school training is a plus.
- Understanding of electrical circuitry, construction environments, and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, mechanical, and control drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, file management systems, and Visio.
- Familiarity with BACnet, LON, and Modbus protocols.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset.
