Description
Needs to be very, very deep in the data center migration space, and have executive-level communication and presence; this role will be leading the architecture for our client's data center, so much more than just application-level designs, and will need to interact with multiple stakeholders to prepare more strategic patterns (think defining network isolation and segregation patterns and policies, digging into VMWare and identifying applications that need to move as a single unit, collaborating with security to identify zones and policies for data ingress/egress, and presenting to single leaders options, trade-offs, and recommendations).
Top Skills & Experience Required
Enterprise-level on-prem to on-prem data center migration experience (not cloud-focused).
Deep VMware expertise (ideally master-level or equivalent).
Strong networking knowledge, especially with ACI
Site Replication Manager familiarity for disaster recovery planning.
Middleware experience, especially with Kafka and DataPower.
Database migration experience, including Oracle and specific systems
Ability to assess latency impacts and design mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee migration from legacy data centers
Develop and enforce application-level failover strategies (e.g., blue-green deployments).
Implement network segmentation using ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure).
Collaborate with architecture and development teams to define and apply migration patterns.
Serve as second line of defense for application reviews (mandatory for Tier 0/1 apps).
Present migration progress, risks, and strategies to executive leadership.
Ensure coordination across middleware, networking, and database teams.
Preferred Background
Financial services preferred.
Open to other regulated industries: defense, education, healthcare.
Provide technical leadership. The Enterprise Architect will collaborate with the entire range of senior technical and management resources within the Solutions arm of Business Technology Services (BTS) to advise on and establish enterprise architecture frameworks and road maps. Architect and develops applications by developing design specifications and writing code based upon the design and business requirements under the direction of the Development Manager and Project Manager. Takes an active role in the development group by sharing knowledge and mentoring others. This candidate is a member of a team, must adhere to secure development process and configuration management process and must be able to work cooperatively and autonomously.
