Job Details
Job Title: Senior SAP IS-U Developer (Utilities) Location: Remote Duration 6+ Months with possible extension
Build and modernize core utility platforms meter-to-cash, billing, FICA, device/meter data, and customer engagement on SAP IS-U / S/4HANA Utilities. You ll design and deliver high-quality code and integrations that actually move the needle on reliability, collections, and CX.
What you ll do:
Design & develop IS-U enhancements: BAdIs, user exits, BAPIs/RFCs, IDocs, events, Print Workbench, DM/EDM data handling.Build billing/rating logic: schema, rate categories/steps, variants, bill print forms, invoicing, reversals, rebilling.
FICA: payments, dunning, write-offs, tolerance, returns, clearing, payment plans, security deposits.
Device & meter lifecycle: installations/removals, meter reads (interval & register), estimation/validation, AMI/MDMS interfaces.
Integrations: SAP CPI/BTP, PI/PO, OData/REST APIs; CRM/Service Cloud/Salesforce, portals, WFM (e.g., FSM/Click), IVR.
Data migration & quality: contracts, installations, business partners, meter history; LSMW/DMO, custom loaders.
Performance & reliability: batch/parallelization, queuing/retry, error handling, monitoring/alerts.
DevOps & delivery: Git-based flow, CI/CD, code reviews, unit tests, transport management; Agile ceremonies.
Stakeholder work: convert functional specs to technical designs; partner with functional (Billing/FICA/DM) and offshore teams.
Required background:
- 5+ years SAP IS-U (ECC or S/4) with 3+ years heavy ABAP OO in IS-U objects.
- 2+ end-to-end IS-U implementations (at least one in North American utilities).
- Deep hands-on in at least two: Billing/Invoicing, FICA, Device Mgmt/MDEDM, Move-In/Move-Out/Contract Mgmt.
- Strong integration chops (CPI or PI/PO; IDocs; API/OData), and performance tuning.
- Comfortable leading dev workstreams, mentoring others, and coordinating onshore/offshore.
- US work authorization; utility regulatory familiarity (tariffs, rates, collections constraints).
Nice to have:
- S/4HANA Utilities (S/4U) conversion/greenfield; Fiori app dev; RAP/CDS.
- Smart Meter/MDMS (Itron, Landis+Gyr, Oracle MDM) integration experience.
- Customer platforms: SAP Service Cloud/CRM for Utilities, Salesforce Service/Experience Cloud.
- Testing at scale (CBTA/Tricentis), observability (Solution Manager/Focused Run/Grafana).
- SAP or PMI/Agile certifications.
