Mainframe Tester

Job Summary: The Mainframe Tester will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of complex, mainframe-based and distributed systems through robust test automation and data validation practices. This role requires strong expertise in automation frameworks, databases, DevOps tools, and mainframe technologies, while working closely with Agile/Scrum teams to deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and enhance test automation frameworks using Java and standard tools such as Cucumber and REST services Perform testing of distributed applications across multiple layers of the technology stack Validate data and business processes using SQL, DB2, and Oracle databases Apply DevOps and CI/CD practices using Maven, Git/GitHub, Jenkins, and Sonar Collaborate within Agile/Scrum teams using tools such as JIRA and XRAY Support and follow SDLC processes, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, and build processes Conduct functional and regression testing, integrating automation into Agile sprints or Kanban teams Interpret business requirements to create clear test scenarios, stories, and acceptance criteria Identify risks related to testing and automation, and define mitigation or contingency plans Work with virtual databases and data mockup tools when required Engage with cloud-based services such as Azure and AWS Work independently while ensuring timely and high-quality test deliverables Required Skills: Proven expertise in test automation frameworks such as Cucumber, Java, and REST services Strong experience in data validation and database processes using SQL, DB2, and Oracle Hands-on experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with tools like JIRA and XRAY Solid understanding of DevOps and CI/CD processes using Maven, Git/GitHub, Jenkins, and Sonar Strong knowledge of SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, and build processes Experience with mainframe-based systems Understanding of COBOL language Experience working with VSAM files Knowledge of batch processing Familiarity with IOM (Input/Output Modules) Strong aptitude and communication skills Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-changing environment Preferred Skills: Experience in the Financial Services domain, particularly mutual funds, stocks, or managed accounts Experience with virtual databases such as Delphix or data mockup tools like WireMock Exposure to cloud-based platforms such as Azure or AWS Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience Education: Bachelors Degree
