Senior Project Manager, People & Corporate Systems


Summary:
Seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead transformative technology initiatives across People (HR) systems and wider Corporate Operations systems used in Risk, Safety, Purchasing, Engineering, and Legal. This role will drive modernization and integration efforts involving platforms such as Oracle HCM and JD Edwards (JDE), ensuring seamless collaboration between Technology (IT) and Business Operations. Reporting to the Director of Project Portfolio Management (PMO), the ideal candidate brings 7+ years of project management leadership experience, including successful delivery in mid-sized company transformations.




Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Lead cross-functional planning and orchestration of technology initiatives focused on Oracle HCM, Risk, Safety, Purchasing, Engineering, and Legal.

  • Partner with sponsors, business owners, analysts, and SMEs to define project scope, business case, ROI, resource needs, and vendor deliverables.

  • Maintain alignment with PMO standards.

  • Utilize deep working knowledge of HR/IS systems to organize, refine, and document project business case, scope, goals, ROI/value argument, resource requirements, vendor services, and project work deliverables, including Change Management.

  • Build and execute comprehensive project plans, ensuring team members are informed of timelines and interdependencies.

  • Oversee projects that upgrade HR/IS and Corporate Operations systems to latest versions, improve data quality, integrate across platforms, and optimize usability.

  • Manage projects that deliver improved onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring system upgrades and integrations support compliance and efficiency.

  • Communicate proactively with internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to ensure coordinated execution, manage risks/issues, and provide transparency to sponsors.

  • Partner on Change Management considerations to ensure successful sequencing of communications, training, and deployment of new processes.

  • Collaborate using productivity tools: Smartsheet, Box, Google Workspace, Zoom, Lucid Charts, PowerPoint, Jira.

  • Partner with IT QA to ensure quality delivery via comprehensive test plans and oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Maintain project management best practices: Scope, Risk, Issue, Decision, Schedule, Status, and Dependency Management.

  • Ensure requirements traceability from business needs to technical deliverables.

  • Compile "Transition to Support" plans, including ROI confirmation for PMO value tracking.

  • Conduct project health assessments and lessons learned as directed.




Position Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, MIS, or related field.

  • Project Management certification (PMP preferred; Prince2 considered; Agile Scrum/Product is a plus).

  • Deep understanding of HR/IS systems (preferably Oracle HCM), common integrations, and best practices for handling sensitive data.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and partnering skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in Smartsheet, PowerPoint, and collaboration tools; ability to track/report project progress using PPM tools.

  • Familiarity with Change Management frameworks (PROSCI, ADKAR preferred).

  • Ability to manage multiple overlapping projects with discretion and confidentiality.
