About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Structural/Stress Engineer to support the design and certification of advanced space and aerospace hardware. This role ensures the structural integrity and reliability of components and systems that operate in extreme environments for government, commercial, and defense space programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis using both classical methods and advanced FEA (linear/non-linear statics, dynamics, fatigue, fracture, buckling, stability, creep).
- Evaluate structural integrity of hardware and joints (welds, fasteners, bonded assemblies).
- Support design teams with proposals, design reviews, change requests, and customer approvals.
- Develop fatigue-life and fracture control assessments for flight hardware.
- Prepare analysis reports, certification documentation, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Work with CAD models (Creo, SolidWorks, etc.) and commercial FEA tools (NASTRAN, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, FEMAP).
- Apply industry standards (NASA, AIAA, API, ASME, DNV) in all design and analysis work.
Qualifications
- BS/MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or related engineering discipline.
- 10-15+ years of direct structural/stress analysis experience (15-20 preferred).
- Strong proficiency in FEA software (NASTRAN, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, NASGRO, FEMAP).
- Familiarity with classical analysis references (Bruhn, Roark's, Peterson's, Machinery's Handbook).
- Experience with automation/scripting (VBA, Python) a plus.
