Overview:

Polaris is seeking a Test Technician to join its Structural Testing Department at the Wyoming Product Development Center. This team provides comprehensive testing, data acquisition, and analysis services across all Polaris product lines. The role involves hands-on testing of components and vehicles to ensure durability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute durability tests on components, sub-assemblies, and full vehicles.
  • Set up test fixtures and assemblies using engineering drawings and torque specs.
  • Operate lab equipment: hydraulic/pneumatic actuators, electrodynamic shakers, ovens, chillers, etc.
  • Assist in developing and refining test procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment.
  • Support fixture design and perform light fabrication tasks.
  • Install and operate instrumentation (temperature, load, strain, etc.).
  • Operate Polaris vehicles for testing.
  • Monitor cyclic testing and inspect processes.
  • Conduct basic data processing and analysis.
  • Document and submit technical test reports.
  • Maintain lab organization and ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Manage testing schedules and report equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendors and maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Skills & Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant technical experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills.
  • Basic fabrication experience (milling, drilling, welding).
  • Experience with vehicle/system-level testing.
  • Familiarity with MTS 793 and MPE software is a plus.
  • Skilled in test planning and coordination.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and customer-focused.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Forklift operation experience preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • Lab-based environment with active test equipment.
  • PPE required: eye protection, safety toe footwear, hearing protection.
  • Willingness to work overtime and monitor tests outside regular hours.
  • Physical requirements: lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, overhead reaching, strong grip/pinch, push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Training provided for any missing skills.
