Electronic Engineering Manager

Leads, manages and oversees a team of approximately 15-20 engineers performing C-17 avionics, Mission Processor/Flight Management Systems requirements development, systems design, component definition, HW/SW systems Integration, qualification and flight test support. Manager will forecast and manage staffing and budgets, mentor and grow staff capability and capacity, and work with other managers and suppliers in an Agile development environment.

- Manage, develop, listen, advocate for, and motivate a diverse team of employees.
- Utilize engineering knowledge to provide technical direction, oversight, and guidance regarding approved processes, plans, tools, technology and skills.
- Utilize strong business acumen to "run your business", including managing business plan, organizational goal alignment, and budget and staffing forecasts.
- Establish, track and manage metrics and goals for cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Effectively communicate with team, senior leadership, and stakeholders to keep informed on daily status, metrics, progress to plan, execution, policies, directives, expectations, etc.
- Lead processes documentation and process improvement projects to achieve business goals and drive first time quality.
- Perform efficiently in a fast-paced, challenging, diverse work environment.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- 10+ years of experience in aircraft avionics systems development, and/or other electronics
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role (either as a lead or a manager)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 10+ years of cumulative Mission Processor/Flight Management System design and development experience on one or more military aircraft platforms
- 5 years Managing Mission Processor/Flight Management System design and development
- Experience working on an Agile team using Agile methodologies
- 1+ years of experience as a CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management)
- Experience with mentoring, coaching, guiding, and leading teams of junior and peer engineers
- Experience using model based engineering tools and methods
- Experience defining, tailoring and applying systems engineering methods for avionics development
