SALARY RANGE: The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from $65,000 to $80,673

Job Summary

This position is responsible for engineering and design of the gas transmission and distribution delivery systems in New York (NYSEG and RG&E) as well as in NH and ME. The gas delivery system in NY is approximately 121 miles of transmission main, 9400 miles of distribution main, 840 regulator stations and 564000 customers.

Under supervision, supports mandated gas system integrity management (IM) programs/projects and supports the mandated corrosion control program. Implement IM program components on identified gas transmission system piping. Analyzes data and maintains the High consequence Area (HCA)/Identified Site inventory compiles and evaluates data in support of threat evaluation risk modeling for covered pipeline segments.Revises and maintains IM procedures and program identified records,

results and analysis. Compiles, analyzes and maintains data to support IM program models. Makes recommendations to Gas Planning, Engineering and Delivery for remediation or segment replacements and system improvements based on IM analysis and assessment results. Provides technical and engineering support to the corrosion control program. Evaluates system leak data and prioritizes piping segments for capital

replacement. Review and revise Gas Construction and Material Standard and mandated Operating and Maintenance procedures. Applies company, industry, local, state, national codes, tariffs, and standards, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Interacts with customers, developers, municipalities, agencies and others. Interacts with technical support contractors/consultants. Maintains and utilizes

SAP equipment data and SAP processes supporting the corporate use of

contractor/consultant resources.

Employee is assigned to a primary Corporate location with travel to other operating divisions or IUSA locations as needed. Occasional work outside of the service territory for industry or government meetings or training may occur.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under supervision Supports gas transmission integrity management (IM) programs/projects. Implement IM program components on identified gas transmission system piping. Analyzes data and maintains the High consequence Area (HCA)/Identified Site inventory compiles and evaluates data in support of threat evaluation risk modeling for covered pipeline segments. Revises and maintains IM procedures and program identified records, results and analysis. Compiles, analyzes and maintains data to support IM program models. Interacts with technical support contractors/consultants and utilizes applicable SAP processes. (25% of time, P)
  • Under direction of higher-level engineers, develops, revises and maintains construction and operating procedures and standards to meet safety, regulatory and reliability needs. Using guidance as appropriate, assesses changes in regulations and develops revised O&M procedures or Construction standards and coordinates their review, approval and distribution. Maintains and updates various O&M records databases and makes recommendations for replacements and improvements. Tracks and reports PSC rate case targets and responds to data requests from IUSA. Helps coordinate review and approvals for new tools and materials, including Supply Chain interactions. Prepares MID requests and updates existing MIDs as needed. Uses the new tool approval process to work with subject matter experts to approve new tools and equipment. Interacts with technical support contractors/consultants and utilizes applicable SAP processes. (25% of time, P)
  • Under supervision of Lead Engineers, compiles reviews and updates data to maintain IM models, including the relative risk analysis and the IM data management program. Interfaces with the GIS/Mapping Department to support the IM data management program and cathodic protection records. (20% of time, P)
  • Under supervision of Lead Engineers, compiles system leak data and main record information databases to develop a prioritized main replacement listing. Interacts with contractors/consultants and utilizes applicable SAP processes. (15% of time, P)
  • Interfaces with and supports Gas Planning, Engineering and Delivery and Gas Field Operations. Provides engineering support for the design, operation, maintenance and inspection of distribution and transmission systems. (5% of time, S)
  • Applies appropriate codes, regulations, polices, and procedures. Interfaces with customers, developers, municipalities, agencies and others. (5%, S)
  • Under supervision, assist on complex projects or initiatives. May assist Lead Engineers with projects that deal with unfamiliar concepts. (5% of time, S)

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science or Technology degree in Engineering.
  • Valid drivers license
