Overview
Position is a full-time position in Philadelphia, PA.
Electric Boat is expanding its engineering presence in the Philadelphia Navy Yard to support the COLUMBIA Class propulsion plant testing program. The IPS CTF waterfront engineering team provides technical support for emergent issues by evaluating problems and collaborating with a team of engineers across multiple sites. IPS CTF Waterfront Engineering personnel will perform the tasks described below to support development and execution of the Motor Module Test Program. The IPS CTF facility regularly works on high-priority programs with high levels of upper-level management and government visibility making the position demanding with regular opportunities for overtime. The test program will, at times, require a 24/7 test schedule and, therefore, qualified candidates must be willing to support overnight and weekend shifts as required. Work from home opportunities are limited and evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Frequent interface with Naval Surface Warfare Center - Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) and NAVSEA personnel is required. Occasional travel may be required <10%.

Responsibilities will include the following:
- Troubleshoot and investigate issues by reviewing data and inspecting the condition of hardware using test equipment such as digital multi-meters, fiber optic test kits, special test equipment, etc.
- Develop engineering recommendations to problem reports.
- Resolve a variety of problems regarding mechanical, power electronics, printed wiring assemblies, fiber optic communications, network communications, etc.
- Review and interpret technical documentation such as engineering drawings and technical manuals in support of troubleshooting
- Provide deck plate engineering support to operations personnel implementing the engineering responses to problem reports
- Act as liaison between the local test team, offsite engineering groups, operations personnel, program office, and government personnel
- Review collected test data to ensure all information necessary to certify tests was acquired, no abnormalities are present, and support emergent troubleshooting efforts
- Develop and maintain MATLAB scripts to quickly plot test data in support of test certification and troubleshooting
- Support problem report generation to ensure all relevant test data is consolidated into a report to accurately document the full extent of the issue
- Coordinate additional engineering support as required to adjudicate emergent issues
- Support periodic program reviews and working meetings
- Issue letters to formally document a variety of programmatic decisions
Qualifications
Required:
- BS or higher in an engineering discipline
- 0-4 years related post-graduate experience
- Ability to provide engineering support on production floor and maneuver using ladders
- Ability to work overnight and weekends as required by program
- and qualified to acquire a Secret Clearance
Preferred:
- BS or higher in Electrical, Systems, or Computer Engineering
- Active Security Clearance
- Experience in shipyard construction practices
- Previous naval experience
- Previous shipyard experience
- Experience with power generation and distribution systems
- MATLAB experience

Skills:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written skills are also necessary, as is the ability to interface effectively with senior Electric Boat and government personnel
- Team oriented and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
