Position Title: Scientific Literature & Systems Specialist
Location: Remote (U.S.-based)

Position Status: Contract
Pay Rate: $40/hr - $43/hr on W2
Position Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Scientific Literature & Systems Specialist to support research-driven projects by managing, synthesizing, and organizing scientific literature using structured systems and databases. In this role, you will acquire scientific articles, manage metadata, conduct literature reviews, and ensure quality and consistency in scientific documentation. You will also collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to build bibliographies and maintain accurate, well-structured literature repositories.
This role is ideal for professionals with a life sciences background who excel in literature analysis, data organization, and using citation management tools like EndNote, MS Word, MS Excel, and literature management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Article Acquisition & Tracking
- Secure copyright-compliant scientific articles via client-approved resources
- Track order and delivery status; provide periodic status updates
Article & Metadata Management
- Upload electronic articles into literature management systems
- Enter bibliographic metadata using standardized templates
Literature Screening & Data Extraction
- Review scientific articles against inclusion/exclusion criteria
- Extract responsive data and document findings in client databases
Quality Control (QC)
- Evaluate third-party literature review deliverables for consistency and accuracy
- Integrate QC and client feedback into final deliverables
Bibliography Development
- Use citation and literature management systems (e.g., EndNote) to create MS Word-based bibliographies
- Build citation groups, generate reports, and compile reference lists by topic or project
Additional Literature Support
- Research missing abstracts or confirm copyright permissions
- Clean and update historical metadata in client databases
- Participate in virtual meetings to review project plans, progress, and deliverables
Required Skills/Education:
- Bachelor s degree in a scientific discipline (Life Sciences preferred: Biology, Chemistry, Toxicology, Behavioral Science, or related field)
- Demonstrated experience synthesizing scientific literature
- Proven ability to manage collections of scientific articles via structured systems or databases
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and citation management tools (EndNote preferred)
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and work independently or in teams
