Job Description:

Cost Control Engineer

Job Overview: The Cost Controls Engineer is responsible for implementing and managing Q project cost reporting system. The position requires proficiency in cost engineering, including the use of software such as HCSS HeavyJob. This role involves designing and implementing controls for cost activities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Implement a project cost controls software such as HCSS HeavyJob
  • Work with Project Management to improve cost reporting, cost controls, and forecasting Create, track, and submit the project monthly pay estimate
  • Track quantities (material/labor) for payment and cost purposes
  • Calculate material/work quantity requirements (takeoffs); monitor progress, percentage complete per work item
  • Create or deliver progress cost reports, production rates, and other requested managerial reports
  • Update the project scheduler so that the cost loaded schedule is accurate
  • Maintain documentation to support the company's position for claims resolution
  • Manage extra work process, change orders, and claim management
  • Develop good working relationships with owners, subcontractors, and project personnel
  • Design and implement project cost control methodologies and policies
  • Train Project Managers on cost control techniques and best practices Perform additional assignments per management's direction

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering or construction management from an accredited institution
  • 4+ years of construction engineering experience.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques (i.e. cost accounting, cost analysis, scheduling, basic estimating) is required.
  • Experience working with Design Build Projects or complex civil engineering projects is preferred.
