Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect with AI expertise for a remote contract opportunity. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of modern data architecture and advanced AI integrations, including experience working with large language models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize modern data architecture solutions, including relational and non-relational databases.
• Develop and support data lakes, data warehouses, and unified data platforms that enable enterprise-wide data accessibility and analytics.
• Architect and oversee data governance frameworks, including metadata management, lineage tracking, and data cataloging.
• Lead data migration, replication, and ETL processes to ensure seamless data integration and transformation.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to support use cases involving unstructured data (e.g., PDFs, text documents) for AI consumption.
• Architect solutions integrating LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, or similar) within enterprise environments.
• Implement and support RAG architectures, including data ingestion, vectorization, and querying strategies.
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, and business stakeholders to align architecture with strategic goals.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong experience in data architecture with hands-on expertise in:
• Relational Databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake
• NoSQL/Document Databases: MongoDB
• Data Warehousing & Lakes: Architecture and implementation
• Data Governance: Metadata management, lineage tracking, data catalogs
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data migration strategies, and replication tools.
• Familiarity with handling unstructured data and transforming it for AI/ML use cases.
• Experience with AI architecture, particularly involving OpenAI or other LLMs.
• In-depth understanding of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architecture and its components, such as vector databases and embedding techniques.

Preferred Skills:

• Hands-on experience with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate).
• Familiarity with embedding models and vectorization tools (e.g., LangChain, Transformers).
• Experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Databricks).
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
