Job Description:
Role: Accounting Assistant / Payment Processing Clerk
Accounting Duties:
- Perform general accounting tasks including monthly journal entries.
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries.
- Assist with various projects as assigned by management.
- Apply basic accounting principles and company procedures.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Utilize accounting software and MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Operate high/low-speed mail extraction and imaging equipment.
- Extract payments from mail and image documents for processing.
- Perform keying and data entry using 10-key by touch.
- Balance transactions and research to resolve payment exceptions.
- Handle filing, check destruction, returned payments, and correspondence.
Required Skills & Attributes:
- Strong data entry experience (10-key by touch).
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and systems.
- Proficient with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with exception processing using BancTec Pay Courier or similar systems.
- Experience with OPEX and/or 7200i for mail and payment imaging.
