Overview:

We are seeking a Commvault Certified Developer who will support our NY State client. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data protection and information management solutions using Commvault's enterprise backup and recovery platform. The ideal candidate for this role must hold a valid Commvault certification and will be able to demonstrate deep technical experience in enterprise backup and recovery technologies.

Duties:

  • Design and implement comprehensive data protection solutions using Commvault software, including backup policies, retention schedules, and disaster recovery workflows tailored to organizational requirements and compliance standards.

  • Develop and maintain automated backup and recovery processes through scripting and API integrations to move onsite backups to a cloud environment using Commvault.

  • Configure and optimize Commvault environments across multiple platforms including physical servers, virtual machines, cloud infrastructure, and database systems to ensure maximum performance and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot complex backup failures and system issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures to maintain data protection service levels and minimize downtime.

  • Integrate Commvault solutions with existing enterprise systems such as Active Directory, monitoring tools, and cloud services, ensuring seamless interoperability and centralized management.

  • Monitor and report on backup operations and storage utilization by creating dashboards and documentation that provide visibility into data protection metrics and compliance status for stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to plan and execute data migration projects, system upgrades, and new technology implementations while maintaining data integrity and availability.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to IT staff and end users on Commvault functionality, best practices, and proper usage of backup and recovery tools.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Must hold a valid Commvault Certification.

  • 9+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise-level backup and recovery solutions, including recovery time and point objectives.

  • Strong programming and scripting proficiency in languages commonly used in enterprise environments such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, and/or JAVA.

  • Strong experience in writing, debugging, and maintaining automation scripts.

  • Strong system administration experience with both Windows Server and UNIX OS, including file systems, permissions, networking, and storage management for 100-500 server environments.

  • Practical experience with Virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V, including backup and recovery of VMs and their virtual infrastructure components.

  • Working knowledge of enterprise database systems (SQL, Oracle) including backup strategies, transaction log management, and recovery procedures.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts and storage protocols (SAN, NAS, iSCSI).

  • Experience working in government finance.
