Jr VMWare Systems Administrator

Contract to Hire

$40-50/hr W2 only (not available on C2C)

Hybrid Atlanta or Birmingham - remote currently but may be required to come onsite as needed so must be in commutable distance

JOB SUMMARY:
Our company is seeking a Systems Administrator with skills in virtualization and server administration. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of virtualization technology such as VMware and Hyper-V, as well as traditional server admin skills such as managing and optimizing Windows servers. The role will involve managing and maintaining server infrastructure in a secure segmented network environment, implementing technology upgrades, and supporting our IT team with troubleshooting and issue resolution.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good working knowledge on virtualization technologies like VMware High-Availability, VMware vMotion, VMware DRS, VMware vCenter and vSphere Lifecycle Manager, VMware Web console, VMRC, VAMI, and VMTools
  • 3-5 years of designing, supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and administering hardware and software in a virtual environment.
  • Install, configure, and support VMware ESXi and vCenter along with OVA/OVF deployments.
  • Virtual infrastructure lifecycle management including VM guest template deployments and along with OVA/OVF deployments.
  • Configure the virtual and physical (switch based) networking needed to support a virtual environment.
  • Knowledge of deploying systems within firewall segmented networks.
  • Experience configuring, deploying, and supporting Windows servers.
  • Ability to effectively organize tasks, manage multiple priorities/details, meet schedules, and deliver on customer commitments
  • Professional oral and written communication skills required especially pertaining to managing a regulatory environment, collecting evidence, and documenting potential noncompliance events
  • High level of demonstrated self-initiative and self-learner

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide full life-cycle management, including engineering, installation, upgrading, patching and maintenance, of virtualization hardware, hypervisors, and host system software while meeting compliance and security standards, project timelines, documented processes and change procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Knowledge of security policies and how cyber security impacts the technology and power delivery industry.
  • Proficient in Windows 2019/2022 server deployments in various infrastructure roles.
  • Understanding of rules and regulations that govern the use of technology, NERC CIP, Gas TSA, and internal cybersecurity policies.
  • Communicate progress, problems and best practices to management, team leads and teammates

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors in CS or MIS strongly preferred; four (4) years of relevant technical experience is an acceptable substitute
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of service (depending on job level), providing technical and organizational support for in-scope technologies. When relevant technical experience is substituted for a degree, the minimum experience requirement increases by four (4) years
  • Appropriate technology, security, and/or compliance certifications are a plus.

LOCATION
This is a hybrid position, and the successful candidate must reside within driving distance of Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL. Currently remote but subject to in office as needed.

The compensation range for this position is $40 to $50/hr W2 only

(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
