Job Description Summary
Manufacturing Engineer CNC Programmer to be responsible for the process design, operation and implementation of CNC machining processes for various work areas in EMO. This includes the programming and machining of complex geometries on 5 axis mills and lathes. Individual will successfully improve industrial processes to maintain efficiency, improve quality and reduce cost, cycle time, and defects.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop best practices, procedures and innovative solutions to support design, setup, programming, and validation of components.
  • Manufacture, source or specify all required fixturing and tooling.
  • Program CNC equipment and machine parts in a low volume, high mix environment.
  • Develop, author and audit process specific work instructions for set up and operation of machine tool equipment and support revisions of production planning as appropriate for process changes.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and contribute to process improvement efforts on mature hardware with existing programs.
  • Perform in-process dimensional checks, including CMM operations/set up
  • Train and provide direction to team of machinists and programmers in machining processes, best practices and procedures.
  • Support development of machine environments, programs and setup of new CNC equipment from delivery to full production.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in a high precision operation
  • Position grows into CTH (Technical Leader) role.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years CAD/CAM experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years CAD/CAM experience

Desired Characteristics:
  • Proficient in shop mathematic i.e. geometry and trigonometry, blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerances
  • Siemens NX experience.
  • Expert level knowledge of CNC machining processes.
  • Experience machining/programming 5 axis mills or Vertical and Horizontal Lathes.
  • Formal training or experience with GD&T.
  • Highly skilled with interpreting technical drawings.
  • Experience machining common aerospace materials like Inconel.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining CNC equipment.
  • Ability to assess processes, take measurements, interpret data, and document results.
  • Experience in tooling and fixturing, STAS, tooling vendors, Maximo generation.
  • Knowledge of precision machining - including metal cutting principles, work holding, tool holding, and chip mechanics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to work cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction - self-starter.
  • Ability to interface with various levels of management (i.e., Design Engineering and Project) and also shop floor workforce.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience and/or formal training.
  • Knowledge of process related standards of GE Aerospace.
