Data Catalog Onboarding Specialist

Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced Data Catalog Onboarding Specialist to help support the rollout and adoption of our enterprise data catalog solution, Atlan. This person will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to facilitate onboarding, training, and governance activities. The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, excels at stakeholder engagement, and has hands-on experience implementing Atlan or similar metadata platforms.


Key Responsibilities

  • Guide teams through onboarding into Atlan, facilitate UAT, and provide hands-on stakeholder support and upskilling
  • Define/refine roles and responsibilities and manage role-based access controls (CRUD)
  • Improve processes for business users to create, update, and delete business metadata
  • Assist data stewards and data owners with glossary development and metadata ingestion
  • Promote adherence to data governance best practices across users and processes
  • Create operations documentation including admin guides, service catalogs, and training materials
  • Develop and execute "Playbooks" for ingestion, testing, and validation
  • Monitor Atlan platform performance and implement continuous improvements
  • Partner with communications leads to deliver training and drive adoption
  • Define and run controls for metadata completeness and accuracy
  • Implement daily health checks and monitoring processes to ensure catalog stability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, IT, and Platform teams to support integrations and onboarding per roadmap priorities


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data analysis, or a related role
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing data catalog products (Atlan preferred)
  • Strong understanding of metadata management, data governance frameworks, and data lineage
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable operating independently and juggling multiple priorities
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams and technical/non-technical users


Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with Atlan is highly preferred
