Title:

Cybersecurity Engineer

This is contingency hire for a full-time position supporting a government agency in Northern Virginia. The Cybersecurity Engineer will work independently and as a team contributor to fulfill mission requirements. This role ensures the protection of the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks and data against cyber-attacks and unauthorized access. The engineer needs to have management skills to ensure all key stakeholders all informed to ensure success in support of critical national security missions.

Job Duties:

  • Provide cybersecurity support for ICD 503
  • Provide continuous monitoring oversight and integration utilizing a change management process
  • Apply ICD 503, NIST, and CNSSI security requirements
  • Review and assess systems and applications using Risk Management Framework
  • Reviews systems security posture and plan of action and milestones
  • Provide system security categorization support to government PM
  • Review and recommend changes to cybersecurity and zero trust approach
  • Assist product development teams with Assessment and Authorization process


Minimum Requirements:

  • Familiarity with ICD 503, NIST, and CNSSI cybersecurity policies and Risk Management Framework
  • Experience with A&A processes, ATO requirements, and SCA/AO requirements
  • Experience with DevSecOps and agile development
  • Proven work experience as a cybersecurity engineer or similar role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline (STEM)
  • Certifications in CISSP
  • Knowledge of agency operating systems and databases
  • Experience with cloud (AWS, Azure) and virtual machines
  • Experience in the use of Tableau, SharePoint, JIRA and Confluence
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related STEM field
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or its DoD equivalent or coursework
