Role Overview

We re seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support large-scale technology modernization and data migration initiatives. The role involves deep-diving into complex datasets, defining data quality frameworks, documenting dataflows, and collaborating across multiple teams to ensure data accuracy, lineage, and consistency throughout transformation efforts.

You ll work closely with product owners, DBAs, ETL engineers, and reporting teams to translate business requirements into actionable technical deliverables. The ideal candidate will bring strong data profiling, mapping, and documentation expertise across SQL Server, Oracle, and mainframe/legacy environments.

This is a senior-level, data-centric position requiring hands-on analytical and documentation capabilities, along with the ability to operate independently in a collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced data analysis, profiling, and mapping between legacy and modern platforms.

  • Document source-to-target (S2T) mappings, data lineage, and transformation logic.

  • Collaborate with ETL/ELT teams (SSIS, ADF, Informatica) to validate data flows and troubleshoot data defects.

  • Support migration of legacy data to SaaS/COTS platforms and new data warehouse systems.

  • Define and enforce data governance standards and quality control processes.

  • Prepare business and functional documentation including use cases, process flows, and data models.

  • Partner with business and technical teams to validate data, define KPIs, and ensure reporting accuracy (Power BI, SSRS).

  • Provide root cause analysis for production data issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Lead or mentor junior analysts as needed, ensuring consistency in deliverables and compliance with defined standards.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business and data analysis focused on data modeling, data flow, and documentation.

  • Advanced SQL skills in SQL Server and/or Oracle, with strong understanding of ERD, normalization, and indexing.

  • Proven experience translating business needs into technical specs, use cases, and testable acceptance criteria.

  • Strong background with ETL/ELT tools and documentation (SSIS, ADF, Informatica).

  • Expertise in identifying, documenting, and resolving data integrity issues.

  • Proficiency in Visio, MS Office Suite, and tools like SnagIt for mock-ups and diagramming.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with technical documentation experience.

  • Experience managing artifacts and documentation in SharePoint, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.

  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to work under limited supervision with high accountability.


Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with mainframe systems, hierarchical databases, and modernization projects.

  • Exposure to Informatica, MuleSoft, Java, COBOL, Salesforce, Snowflake, and GoAnywhere.

  • Background in process improvement, data governance, or compliance-based projects.

  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry or similar regulated sectors.

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
