Job Title: DevOps Specialist

Project Overview

Our team is at the forefront of digital transformation, working collaboratively with various ministries to deliver efficient, effective, and affordable services. You'll be part of a dynamic group that uses human-centered design, agile methodologies, and modern data practices to achieve impactful results.

Scope of Services

  • Create scripts, tools, and procedures for operations, focusing on automation for limited downtime deployment and maintenance.
  • Lead operations of digital services in production, including managing configuration and credentials, planning maintenance activities, and overseeing database upgrades and migrations.
  • Provide operations support for digital service implementation and enhancement by creating templates and patterns for application deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop tools, scripts, and processes to enable better application observability through monitoring and telemetry tools.
  • Support delivery teams in adopting best practices for integration testing, security scans, system testing, and performance and load testing.

Location of Work

Primarily remote work with occasional meetings or work sessions in Edmonton, AB, on reasonable notice. Travel within Alberta may be required for field research and user interviews.

Facilities

Professionals are responsible for providing their equipment, including computers and software. Necessary access and credentials to the system will be provided.

Mandatory Training Courses

Once hired, completion of mandatory training, including FOIP, Security/Cybersecurity, Information Management, and Respect in the Workplace, is required. Additional mandatory or optional training may also be necessary.

Required Qualifications

Experience in the following areas is essential:

  • Research, analysis, and problem-solving (3 years)
  • Documenting issues, solutions, and procedures (3 years)
  • Access tools like SSH Clients and Remote Desktop (3 years)
  • Basic security awareness such as secrets management (3 years)
  • Cloud platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform (3 years)
  • Command line interfaces for command execution and file system traversal (4 years)
  • Networking tools like DNS lookups, Trace Routes, and load balancing (1 year)
  • Scripting tools, such as Powershell (4 years)
  • Supporting continuous delivery (2 years)
  • Designing and deploying Hybrid cloud applications using Red Hat Openshift (2 years)
  • Automation and provisioning tools (3 years)
  • Disaster recovery testing (2 years)
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (2 years)
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 or higher (3 years)
  • CI/CD pipelines in a large-scale enterprise environment (3 years)
  • Generative AI and Conversational Tools and Systems (1 year)
