Position Overview:
As a Senior Software Engineer at the Content Experience team at Indeed, you will be a cornerstone in the development and enhancement of our Employer Resources Library product - a comprehensive resource center designed to empower employers with insights on tools, job trends, and hiring practices. Your role will be instrumental in crafting scalable, high-performance software solutions that enrich the user experience across 90 locales and thousands of articles. Leveraging your full-stack expertise in Java, PHP, JavaScript, and React, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, optimize features, and ensure the seamless operation of our CMS platform, WordPress. You will continuously explore and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and AI tools to enhance development efficiency, streamline workflows, and maintain the system at the forefront of industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into high-quality solutions, driving product evolution and excellence.
Design and implement sophisticated features and functionalities end-to-end using Java, PHP, GraphQL, CSS, JavaScript/Typescript, and React, ensuring high performance and scalability.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while adhering to best practices and coding standards. Conduct thorough code reviews, provide actionable feedback, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Investigate and resolve technical challenges, including bugs and performance bottlenecks, while leading efforts to enhance the system's reliability and efficiency.
Enhance and maintain the Employer Resources Library's WordPress CMS, optimizing its performance and ensuring a seamless user experience.
Core Technical Skills 5-7 years of experience.
Must have skills:
PHP (80%) Advanced proficiency with strong experience in WordPress customization, plugin development, and CMS integration.
Java Basic understanding; lower priority. Ability to maintain or modify existing features occasionally (approximately one ticket per month).
Python Mid/junior level, primarily for small tools and automation; expected to grow in importance as the role evolves.
React Basic understanding preferred; willingness to learn and support frontend testing as needed.
Tools & frameworks
GitLab Version control.
Jira Project and issue tracking.
Datadog Monitoring and observability.
JUnit and React Testing Library Unit and integration testing.
GraphQL Strong knowledge of API design, schema development, and performance optimization.
Nice to have skills:
Terraform Nice to have; used for infrastructure as code and cloud deployment management.
AWS (S3, CloudFront) Nice to have; for scalable and distributed cloud solutions.
Additional Skills
Understanding of SEO principles to optimize web performance and visibility.
