Job Title: Python Backend Developer

Location: Jersey City, NJ / Charlotte, NC (Hybrid 3 days onsite per week)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $60 $65/hr (W2, without benefits)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Python Backend Developer to join a fast-paced development team within a major financial institution. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in backend framework development, scalable architecture, and microservices. This role involves designing, building, and optimizing core backend components while maintaining high performance, reliability, and code quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance scalable and distributed backend services using Python.

  • Build reusable, maintainable, and high-performance backend frameworks and APIs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

  • Review and optimize code for performance, scalability, and best practices.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes.

  • Write unit tests using pytest or unittest to ensure software quality.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and maintain applications in production environments.

  • Work in an Agile environment with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience using Python.

  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented and functional programming.

  • Experience developing framework-level components or microservices.

  • Proficiency with databases both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).

  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automation tools.

  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have:

  • Prior experience in financial services or enterprise-scale platforms.

  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
