Description

SAIC is looking for a Systems Engineer to support the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Training Systems Program Office with PMA-205 . PMA-205 provides full life cycle acquisition of naval aviation platform and general training systems, training range instrumentation systems, and distributed mission training centers to provide U.S. Navy and Marine Corps pilots, naval flight officers, aircrew, and maintainers with the training equipment required to provide lethal capability and operational readiness.

This role is hybrid-remote with work performed 2-3 days onsite in California, MD and is therefore open to local candidates in the area.

The selected candidate will directly support PMA-205 Assistant Program Manager for Systems and Engineering (APMSE) for the Tactical Training Ranges Department. As such, this position is responsible for the engineering and technical management of range in-service systems. Responsibilities include supporting the APMSE/Deputy APMSE (DAPMSE) in the coordination of work efforts by field activities and contractors.
  • Provides guidance to engineering and other program personnel in the engineering competencies regarding the issuance of request for proposals, performance specifications, and procurements plans to ensure that all project engineering requirements are addressed.
  • Ensures all technical and engineering requirements of the program are met including flight clearance, quality assurance, reliability, maintainability, system interoperability, safety engineering, software engineering, etc.
  • Reviews all technical changes regard to established requirements, plans, scheduling, and funding.
  • Reviews and evaluates Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for accuracy and feasibility and advises as to the technical aspects.
  • Provides technical assessment and ensures proper testing of all approved ECP engineering changes.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physical Science, Computer Science, Psychology, or Operations Research.
  • 10+ years of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
  • Experience with r eviewing and evaluating Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
  • Experience with the life cycle sustainment of in-service systems and integration into training networks.
  • Ability to travel - CONUS travel up to 15 days per year, 4 to 5 trips
