Job Title: Capacity & Availability Manager

Location:

Client Focus

We are seeking a Capacity & Availability Manager to oversee infrastructure capacity planning, availability assessments, and proactive risk mitigation. The ideal candidate will have expertise in capacity modeling, infrastructure monitoring, availability management, CFIA, SPOF analysis, and redundancy planning. This role requires strong collaboration with technology tracks and customer representatives to ensure infrastructure resilience, cost-effectiveness, and long-term scalability.

Key Must-Have Skills:

  • Experience with capacity health models, forecasting, and automated reporting
  • Strong knowledge of availability management, SPOF identification, and CFIA
  • Ability to produce capacity and availability plans to align with business needs
  • Proven expertise in infrastructure monitoring tools, redundancy, and disaster recovery planning

Job Description

Capacity Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Work with Technology Tracks to create the Capacity Health Model for critical infrastructure.
  2. Identify infrastructure component-level reports/parameters to analyze periodically and automate reporting using monitoring tools.
  3. Define analytical methods/techniques to analyze peaks, troughs, seasonal peaks, and incremental capacity requirements.
  4. Produce and maintain the Capacity Plan to address capacity requirements ahead of time.
  5. Predict temporary and seasonal capacity requirements and plan cost-effective adjustments vs. panic buying.
  6. Suggest research areas for technology solutions to enable flexible capacity allocation (e.g., temporary bandwidth increases).
  7. Provide input to infrastructure and architecture refresh projects from a capacity planning perspective.

Availability Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Business Impact Assessments periodically to validate Incident, Problem, Change, and Capacity Management priority matrices.
  2. Devise methods to measure infrastructure availability for critical components.
  3. Identify SPOFs (Single Points of Failure) and work with SDMs and Customer reps to prioritize and address risks.
  4. Conduct CFIA (Component Failure Impact Analysis) to understand failure impacts and educate support teams.
  5. Generate infrastructure Availability Reports using available tools.
  6. Collaborate with technical configuration owners to plan/implement availability improvements.
  7. Produce an Availability Plan covering redundancy, data backup, and system state backups.
