Description

SAIC has an opening for an Industrial Engineer to provide direct onsite engineering and technical support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia's Land Based Test Sites (LBTS) that mirror ship configurations. The position encompasses a wide range of activities centered around process optimization, systems integration, and technical support to ensure operational excellence at the test sites.

Job Duties:

1. Technical Support and Engineering Services:

Provide direct onsite engineering and technical support for the setup, operation, and maintenance of the Land Based Test Sites (LBTS).

Assist in the design, development, and implementation of test procedures and protocols that simulate shipboard conditions.

Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of systems to identify and resolve issues related to mechanical, electrical, and software components.

2. Process Optimization:

Analyze current processes and workflows at the test sites to identify areas for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness.

Develop and implement strategies to optimize resources, reduce waste, and enhance the overall performance of the test environments.

Apply industrial engineering principles to improve productivity and operational efficiency.

3. Systems Integration and Configuration Management:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate various systems and subsystems on the LBTS to mirror ship configurations accurately.

Ensure proper configuration management practices are followed to maintain consistent and reliable test setups.

4. Data Analysis and Reporting:

Collect and analyze data from tests to provide insights and recommendations for process improvements and system enhancements.

Prepare detailed reports and documentation of findings, including statistical analysis and performance metrics.

5. Safety and Compliance:

Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant safety standards, regulations, and best practices.

Conduct regular safety assessments and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain a safe working environment.

6. Continuous Improvement:

Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and technologies in industrial engineering and naval systems.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation and advancement in test site operations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in engineering support, ideally within a naval or military context.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with naval systems and configurations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master Degree in Industrial Engineering

Experience as ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Lead Assessor -

Experience as AS9100 Rev D & ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor -

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

Security Clearance:

Active or Interim DoD Secret Clearance required on the first day of employment.

Travel:

Occasional CONUS and OCONUS travel (up to 10%) may be required to support ship integration and international collaboration.

Must possess or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Passport.
